Wayne County has been incredibly fortunate to have attracted over $2 billion in new investment and thousands of jobs over the past year. We are proud to welcome companies like GE, A123 Systems, and others who have decided to make Wayne County their home, and we will continue to welcome new companies as we further diversify our economy.
One of the main reasons that these companies moved to the region is our talented workforce. Our region is home to the highest concentration of engineers in the United States and some of the top engineering educational institutions. With the contraction of the automotive industry, we have even more skilled and innovative workers who are ready to contribute to the next Michigan economy.
Wayne County launched www.waynecounty.com/JobEDGE at the beginning of May. Executive Robert Ficano created JobEDGE to not only help Wayne County residents seeking employment, but to help new companies identify talent with specific high-tech skills. The positions advertised on JobEDGE are in high-demand and growth areas like alternative energy, life sciences, medicine, advanced manufacturing, and technology services. Working in partnership with Michigan’s workforce development entities, Wayne County EDGE wanted to take our service offerings a step further and help companies succeed long after the initial decision was made to set up shop in Wayne County.
If you are a growing, high-tech company that would like to advertise available positions on JobEDGE, please contact us through the JobEDGE site.
