Techsonit IT company expands in Dearborn, adds jobs

Saying “There’s no place like home” might have brought Dorothy back from Oz, but it took both a deep love of Dearborn and a longtime friendship to make Techsonit IT what it is today.

The two-year-old company is headed up by lifelong pals Gerald “Jerry” Kowalewski and Eric Ochmanek, who grew up together in the Metro Detroit suburb. Kowaleski founded the firm in 2005 and Ochmanek came on a year ago.

Since then the company has taken off. There are four additional employees and the partners hope to hire two to five more people within the next year.

So far, Techsonit has brought in more clients this year than in all of last year, a sign of what the two friends hope will be a break-out year. The company is also looking to establish a co-located office with a full backup data center next year.

That would plant some deep roots for the pair, who recently moved back to Michigan. Kowalewski and Ochmanek both left after college but eventually looped back into the state, like so many other local college grads. They’re building up their business the old-fashioned way with reliable, trustworthy service while taking a non-sales approach to help promote their business.
