Spending summers splashing in the waters of Metro Detroit’s Metroparks will become more enjoyable this summer with the opening of Turtle Cove in the Lower Huron Metropark in Belleville.

The new family water park replaces a 50-year-old swimming pool with two waterslides, a lazy river, pool and water bucket playscape, among other features. The new 5-acre facility can handle crowds of up to 1,400 people.

It is the largest interactive water park to open (on Memorial Day weekend) within the 13 Metroparks since 2001.
