Dexter buys old DAPCO building to make way for downtown expansion

Dexter officials are clearing the way for new development in the village’s downtown, literally. The village DDA just bought the old DAPCO industrial complex the with the idea of razing it to make way for an expansion of downtown.

Downtown Dexter is in line for an expansion now that the village DDA has bought an old industrial complex it intends to raze to make room for more urban development.

The concept of getting rid of an industrial complex in favor of extending downtown took a major step forward in Dexter recently.

The Dexter Downtown Development Authority has purchased the original DAPCO industrial building for $1.6 million and intends to raze it to make room for an extension of downtown. The 1.45 acres on 3045 Broad St. will be cleared so Jeffords Street can be extended through it and clear the land for future development.
