New Beaumont Hospital set to break ground in downtown Novi

Downtown Novi is set to get a nice shot in the arm this summer when Beaumont Hospitals begins work on a new, four-story medical building at the corner of Main Street and Novi Road.

Downtown Novi will get another building when Beaumont Hospitals begins building its new Medical Center at Main Street and Novi Road this spring.

The four-story, 88,000-square-foot facility will have space for physician offices, urgent care, rehabilitation services, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services and a pharmacy. The $19-million project is set to start in April and is set to be finished by May of next year.

It’ll go up near Novi‘s new downtown, which is centered on the south side of Grand River Avenue and Market Street. While the new urbanism development which combines new traditional storefronts with large surface parking lots has sputtered and stalled in recent years, Beaumont Hospitals’ new building will bring a more workers and traffic to the area, hopefully helping breathe a little more life into it.

Beaumont Hospitals has three hospitals in Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and Troy with 1,696 licensed beds, 18,000 employees and 3,000 physicians. It also has several community-based medical centers, five nursing centers, a research institute, home care services and hospice in the tri-county area.
