Local company contracted to build new bus shelters for AATA

The Ann Arbor Transit Administration has contracted Canton-based Duo-Guard to provide the city with 15-25 new bus shelters in one year, with more to come over the follwoing two. The contract is estimated at $77,000 in the first year.

The Ann Arbor Transit Administration has contracted Canton-based Duo-Guard to provide the city with 15-25 new bus shelters in one year, with more to come over the follwoing two. The contract is estimated at $77,000 in the first year.

“Most bus-shelter companies have 8 to 10 models. As an architecturally based design-build company we help organizations design a new concept. We don’t have a set design,” said Duo-Gard vice president Michael Arvidson.

“We’re moving in the direction of sustainable technology. We have daylighting products and LED products,” said Duo-Gard president David Miller.

Recent regional projects for the company include supplying a vertical glazing canopy for Grand Rapids’ ITP bus terminal, a skywall for the Coleman A. Young Community Center in Detroit and a residential skylight for a house in Ann Arbor.
