Con-way consolidation will add up to 150 jobs to area

Con-way Freight will consolidate three operating companies in Ann Arbor or Plymouth, bringing up to 150 jobs to the area.

The company, which already employs more than 300 people locally, will probably bring 100 to 150 jobs to the area, said Con-way Freight president John Labrie. The company is considering two locations in Ann Arbor for its new regional operations center.

The company is also considering at least one other location outside Washtenaw County, in Plymouth, Labrie said. The company expects to make a decision on the new facility within the next 30 days and will ask the state and the local government for tax abatements, he said.
