Ann Arbor looks for proposals to redevelop old DPW site

Another piece of Ann Arbor‘s old industrial past is on the road to history’s dustbin now that the city is looking for redevelopment proposals for an old department of Public Works site just outside of downtown.

The nearly 2.5-acre site is the former maintenance garage for the city and county DPW services at 415 W. Washington Street, a few blocks northwest of downtown between Huron and Liberty streets and adjacent to the railroad tracks. City officials have determined that it is no longer needed for municipal operations.

The city is requesting redevelopment proposals that will respect the surrounding residential neighborhood, utilize green building practices, mitigate flood plain issues and preserve the historical two-story industrial building built in 1907.

Proposals are due on April 24. City officials expect to present plans to City Council by this summer. For more information, click here or e-mail 415RFP@a2gov.org.
