Sharon Carney

Sharon Carney is a Sterling Heights native who lives in Birmingham and works in Ferndale as the project manager for the Michigan Suburbs Alliance. Smack between the two cities is Royal Oak. She likes to go to Lily’s Seafood (410 S. Washington Ave. 248-591-LILY) for a bite to eat. “I’ve never had anything bad there,” she says. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they have dollar pints on Monday, too. For something a little lighter and vegetarian, Sharon says check out Pronto! (608 S. Washington Ave. 248-544-7900). She says they have a huge selection of sandwiches for the veggie and the meat-eater alike. And though Royal Oak has a few options for sushi, Ronin (326 W. 4th St. 248-546-0888) would be her favorite. Order the Sapporo in the giant tin can for a taste of Japanese beer. Either before or after dinner, Sharon says to catch an art house flicks at the Main Art Theatre (118 N. Main St. 248-542-3289), a downtown staple. Looking to grab a glass of wine somewhere a bit more polished, Sharon says try Vinotecca (417 S. Main St. 248-544-6256). On the other side of polished is Gusoline Alley (309 S. Center St. 248-545-2235). Sharon says it’s rough around the edges but a great, relaxing place for a drink. Looking to shop, Sharon suggests Incognito (323 S. Main St. 248-548-2980) where you can grab a pair of the fanciest ripped jeans on the market.
