Henry Ford may be best known for manufacturing cars, but he also rigged together other devices as well. And more than a few were made for the home.

Michigan Now’s Chris McCarus toured Ford’s historic estate in Dearborn. It’s called Fair Lane Manor.

Constructed alongside the Rouge River, the 31, 000 square foot home boasts more than just castle-like affectations. Inside, Fair Lane employs 100 year old alternative energy innovations. Innovations that just might be exploited today.

This radio program also can be heard on public radio stations accross the state, including WDET 101.9 FM in Detroit. It is sponsored in part by Metromode and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
