Verizon Wireless announced today it is adding 175 new positions in southeastern Michigan by June.
According to Verizon spokesperson Michelle Gilbert the jobs include openings for customer service representatives, financial services representatives, coordinators, analysts, trainers, supervisors, associate directors, as well as one position in management.
One hundred jobs will be in the company's Customer Service department, with the remaining 75 new in Verizon's Financial Services department.
In order to accommodate the larger departments, Verizon Wireless is adding an additional 30,030 square feet to its existing Southfield regional headquarters.
"We feel it's important to remain close to our customers, " Gilbert said of the company's decision to expand in Metro Detroit. "When customers call in from metro Detroit, west Michigan or mid-Michigan -- our employees are familiar with the area in which they're using our service."
In the last year, Verizon Wireless added approximately 200 sales and service positions throughout the area.
