Harper Woods’ TStream to turn software development into 18 new jobs

Things are looking up for TStream, which creates interactive video for websites. The Harper Woods-based firm plans to add 17-18 new jobs this year as its business grows.

Dan Reynolds sometimes compares his company’s work to a chose-your-own-adventure book. The type of well-worn paperback fiction novel that is ever-so popular with middle school students.

His firm, TStream, produces interactive video for websites. The type of video that will play in an advertisement or training film, giving users options to click on.

“It’s kind of like a chose-your-own-adventure story,” Reynolds says. “Based on your user preferences you get a different story.”

The Harper Woods-based firm has been choosing well in its 14 years. TStream was able to make the leap from video production to web technology and build its employee base to 35 people. It expects to increase its staff 50 percent this year, too.

TStream has been able to do that by diversifying its client base to outside of the state. It now has several contracts in states such as Texas and California. However, Reynolds doesn’t see himself or his company leaving any time soon. In fact he sees some of his best chances at new business in his own backyard.

Michigan has been really good to us,” Reynolds says. “There is a ton of opportunity here.”
