Troy-based LMS Engineering looks to double in size in five years
metromode, 7/31/2008
The tagline for
LMS
North America is "Engineering Innovation". These words often get thrown around in business, but it has served as the foundation for why the Troy-based engineering firm has been able to grow consistently since 1989.
"We've had a really good growth in the last 19 years," says Marc Marroquin, director of marketing for LMS. "That's in spite of the three downward cycles in the auto industry."
It's been able to do that because it has branched out beyond the auto industry into other sectors, such as aviation, wind energy and other mechanical engineering sectors.
The company, which is the North American subsidiary of Belgium-based LMS, has gone from six people in its Troy offices 1989 to more than 90 today. They have created 10 to 15 jobs in the last two years and grown to the point that they needed to move into the old

headquarters.
The company plans to double its sales in the next five years and by doing that, double its employee base. That would more than likely mean doubling the number of people working in Troy since the company is quite happy where it is today.
"We have a very aggressive growth outlook," Marroquin says.
