International trade commissioners encouraged to do business in SE Michigan

Past the glitter and glam of last week’s International Auto Show, The Detroit Regional Economic Partnership saw an opportunity to showcase the region’s commitment to innovation and attract new business.

Trade representatives from 21 different nations attended events hosted by the Economic Partnership and visited NextEnergy, TechTown and other area businesses to see firsthand how Southeast Michigan intends to transform its economy through research and development.

“These individuals are the decision makers for when their respective countries are looking to do business in the Midwest,” said John Carroll, executive director of the Detroit Regional Economic Partnership. “We want them to think about the Detroit market first.”

Commissioners from Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Quebec, and South Africa were among those that attended the tours and events.
