Chrysler Proving Grounds considers wind turbines for Chelsea

Wheels on the test car may go round and round at the Chrysler Proving Grounds near Chelsea, but engineers there are seeing if it’s viable to let wind turbines go round and round there, too.

Chrysler usually uses its proving grounds near Chelsea to test out its news cars and trucks. Now it’s also using it to test out the viability of installing wind turbines.

Chrysler and Washtenaw County are testing the wind at Chrysler’s proving grounds near Chelsea to see if there is the potential to develop wind power there. Chrysler is paying half of the cost to put up a meteorological tower as part of its corporate strategy to incorporate more environmentally friendly initiatives into its business plan.
