Citing unprecedented growth, FEV Engine Technology Inc. will invest $4.3 million to expand its operations in Auburn Hills –two years ahead of schedule.

The 130,000 square foot facility, a combined warehouse and office, will be built on a six-and-a-half-acre parcel of land adjacent to FEV’s current home. The company stated that the expansion should add nearly 180 technical jobs.

FEV is a Germany-based engineering firm that develops finely engineered vehicle and powertrain systems, fuel cells and burner systems.

A Single Business tax credit valued at $1.1 million over seven years convinced the company to expand in Michigan rather than a competing site in South Carolina. The city of Auburn Hills has also proposed a 12-year tax abatement valued at $288,000.
