While we await the latest public artwork to arrive in downtown Farmington, we took a stroll up and down the city streets to see what precedes its installation.
A new social hub, Juneteenth events, and a new fire truck were all revealed at Oak Park's State of the City address. “It is ever more important that we come together as a community to play and celebrate," says Mayor McClellan. "We need to focus on what unites us, not what divides us. That’s what public spaces do for us.”
“There are only a few places in the country that feature beer, meat, and cheese,” says proprietor and brewer Eli Green. “Astoria New York’s The Bier and Cheese Collective, and Minneapolis’s Waldmann. I am thrilled to add Stumblebum to that list.”

Although headquartered in Indiana, the FHLBank of Indianapolis provides access to grant programs and resources for small businesses throughout Michigan. The Elevate Grant aims to generate more economic opportunity for all, and helps small businesses like Mushroom House Tours in Charlevoix and The Poke Bowl in Flint to level up.
"I think that these events show the community how accessible physical fitness is, both on a personal level and locally," says Joel Lewis, owner of TrvFit Farmington. "As humans we need movement and community, and all of the studios and clubs participating provide that. My hope is that this event will provide the first steps for community members to find their tribe and get moving."
It was a room full of some of Macomb County's brightest and best. Yet for all of the local notables, it was the Sterling Heights business community that stole the show.
The toolkit is designed to enhance recruitment and promote social work career opportunities across the state. It includes sample language for websites, emails, and social media posts as well as recommended language for various professionals, including high school guidance counselors, college academic advisors, and behavioral health providers. There are also photographic materials for outreach usage.
