Spooky Season in Metro Detroit: October events you won’t want to miss
Check out this guide filled with haunted fun for families and folks who are looking to spend the fall season with trick or treating, hayrides, and classic donuts and cider.

Crunchy leaves, a breeze in the air, are all the hints that autumn is just around the corner.
Here is a list of some of the fun things happening across Metro Detroit to get your fall started.
Ferndale Fall Festival, October 4, 2025, at Martin Road Park
Fun for the whole family, the Detroit Curling Club is celebrating the season from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hayrides, pony rides, carnival games, and creative activities like crafts and pumpkin painting. There will also be a trick-or-treat trail.
Wristbands are required to enter the event and are available for purchase at $8 until September 26. After that, the price goes up to $10.
Haunted Hazel Park Halloween Art Fair, October 11, 2025, at Green Acres Park
Just down the road from Martin Road Park, Hazel Park will be hosting its second annual haunted art fair filled with spooky merchandise and baked goods from local artists from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The free event will also have Taco Hub and Me’s Famous Sliders food trucks, and spooky arts and crafts for the kiddos.
Macomb County HarvestFest, October 18-19, 2025, at Freedom Hill County Park
Located at a popular hangout spot in Sterling Heights, the Macomb County HarvestFest is a weekend event with over 25 trick-or-treating stations, hayrides, live entertainment, and food trucks. There will also be a pumpkin patch for pumpkin picking.
Tickets are on sale here for $9. The fest is also hosting a food drive during the event, so guests are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable items to be collected upon entry.
Detroit Fall Beer Festival, October 25, 2025, at Eastern Market
Beer enthusiasts, look out, as this annual festival is coming back to the city, filled to the brim with beer from local breweries. Folks can gather around and listen to live music, enjoy food — all in the heart of a historic brewing community.
Folks must be 21 and older to enter. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with tickets on sale here.
Streets of Treats, October 26, 2025, in Downtown Northville
All along Main and Center Street will be businesses handing out candy for all the little trick-or-treaters from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
There will also be face painting, live entertainment, donuts and cider, and more. This event is free and open to the public.
Upland Hills Harvest Festival, Saturdays and Sundays through October at Upland Hills Farm
Happening all October is the Harvest Festival in Oxford, filled with your typical fall fun —hayrides, donuts, cider, and a pumpkin patch.
The event will also have farm shows, magic shows, food trucks, pony rides, and an opportunity to milk a cow. To enter, folks must have a ticket, which can be purchased here.
