Macomb County’s industrial and automotive base may give it a leg up in the future as municipalities vie for the interest of companies in the alternative fuels arena.

“We have the foundation of the auto industry here already,” said Steve Cassin, executive director of Macomb County’s planning and economic development department. “And we still have a great deal of farmland here, as well. So it’s a good fit for us.”
