What was once one of Birmingham‘s bleakest corridor is quickly becoming one of its brightest, thanks to projects like The Districts Lofts in the city’s Rail District.

Work is nearly complete on the first phase of the project, which consists of 24 lofts in a four-story mixed-use building. The homes are located above ground floor retail space and an underground heated parking garage.

They are located at 275 S. Eaton Street just south of Maple Road and a few blocks east of downtown in what was once Birmingham’s industrial corridor. In recent years the old factory buildings have been converted to lofts and businesses as the city redeveloped it.

The development’s first residents are expected to move in later this year. Second of two phases of the project will consist of 23 units.

The lofts are single-story homes with at least two bedrooms, two bathrooms and 10-foot ceilings. The units range in size between 1,500 and 2,000 square feet. Prices range from the upper $400,000s to the upper $700,000.
