CruiseCam designs and manufactures in-car cameras in Farmington Hills
In-car digital video cameras and built-in mounts are being designed, manufactured and tested in Farmington Hills by CruiseCam.
Farmington Hills-based CruiseCam International designs, manufactures and tests in-car digital video cameras and mounts. One might wonder, “Why would I ever need to take video from my car?” Founder and CEO D. Scott Watkins has a million applications, from obvious ones like Hollywood and law enforcement, to being able to keep an eye on a teen driver or delivery person, for use in a neighborhood watch or to document a vacation.
The company produces cameras that can be custom-mounted onto a seat as well as mounts that can go in-between or next to a seat. Either way, the cameras are jolt-resistant and the view can be rotated. Watkinds foresees a time that CruiseCam is an OEM for an auto manufacturer and also, potential for the camera system to interact with vehicle data.
CruiseCam currently employs ten, but Watkins sees that number increasing. “We are positioned for growth. I anticipate a near-term expansion. We are launching new products, and our Corvette Seat just launched.” He has an optimistic goal: “There are 42 million vehicles produced new annually. That is our market.”
