Control Solutions opens Novi office, expects to add positions

The Enron scandal led to tighter regulations for publicly-traded companies, which means growth for internal auditing companies like Control Solutions. The international firm just opened a Novi office to better reach clients in Southeast Michigan.

Control Solutions is an internal auditing firm with 34 offices across the globe. Wait. Make that 35. The company just opened its 15th North American office in Novi.

Previously, Control worked with Southeast Michigan clients though its Chicago office. “Now we’ve grown enough sufficient clients and sufficient people on staff to have our own office,” says Terri Coppens, a Michigan native who joined Control’s team specifically to grow its Michigan business and will head its local office.

The Novi office is getting off the ground with eight employees, but Coppens is certain that number will bloom. “There is a ton of potential in this area, it’s a pretty exciting field to be in.” While acknowledging the tight economy, she goes on to say, “Clients still need us, and they need us more than ever.”

Control Solutions hires individuals with one of two strengths: a strong financial background or a strong IT background.

In this post-Enron world, companies that are publicly-traded are required by the Federal government to have their internal controls tested annually. Next year, Japanese companies will be required by their government to do the same. All this bodes well for Control, who counts casinos, automotive manufacturers and suppliers, universities and Japanese companies with local facilities among their clients.
