Trade excursions China made by Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano have led to the development of a partnership between Plymouth Cnton Community Schools and a top high school in Wuhan, China. The partnership might lead to teacher and student exchange programs.

Excerpt:

[Executive director of Wayne County’s Department of Economic Development  Mulu] Birru said Plymouth-Canton was chosen to participate in the partnership because of the growing Chinese population in the area. Ficano was also instrumental in attracting the Tempo Group — which has 27 factories in China — to purchase a 480,000-square-foot building on Michigan Avenue near Beck in Canton Township that houses a handful of research and development jobs.
