The developers of the 409 Center St. project in downtown Royal Oak are set to break ground in April. They hope to finish work on the three-story building this fall.

Douglas J Aveda Institute, a beauty school, will occupy 15,000 square feet of the 35,000-square-foot building. The project is adding about 12,000 square feet to an existing structure, building on a vacant lot.

The rest of the space in the building is up for lease to retail occupants. Douglas J is looking for businesses that would compliment the beauty salon. For information, visit 409centerst.com or call Mark Lisenby at (800) 442-3933.
