BASF to expand facility in Wyandotte, create 175 jobs

BASF and Wyandotte city officials are gearing up for the approximate $150 million research-and-development expansion the company is expected to start on its Wyandotte facility.
BASF is getting ready to put the project out to bid in the next few weeks. Construction is set to begin this spring and finish in mid to late 2009. BASF is moving the facility to Michigan from Wisconsin. It is expected to create 175 new jobs.
The expansion will take place at its existing plant at 1609 Biddle Ave., which is the former site of the Wyandotte Chemical Corp.
New Jersey-based BASF Corporation, formed in 1986, is the North American affiliate of Germany-based BASF AG, one of the world’s leading chemical companies. The company produces a wide range of products ranging from chemicals to plastics to agricultural products to crude oil and natural gas. BASF currently employs 2,000 in Michigan and is one of the biggest employers in Wyandotte.
