The Anton Art Center in downtown Mt. Clemens is attracting a bit of attention.

The recently refurbished venue just became the new home to a local theater troupe and now Macomb Community College is starting to offer art classes there. The college’s Center for Continuing Education will offer a number of classes there, ranging from ceramics to painting. The classes will be held this fall.

The Anton Art Center underwent a $1.6 million expansion and renovation last year. The building, 125 Macomb Pl., is in a former Carnegie Library that has been the city’s art center since 1969. It joins a number of other building renovations, new business start-ups and new housing that has been breathing new life into downtown in recent years.

For information on the classes, call (586) 498-4000.
