Auto dealers are forevering selling, but Software Advantage Consulting is trying to get them to buy its new software. The Sterling Heights-based firm hopes this years proves to be a break-out year for its products that help streamline car selling.

Detroit and Winnipeg. Two cities not often mentioned in the same sentence. Or even seen on the same laminated map. But they mean the world to Software Advantage Consulting.

The Sterling Heights-based firm’s main product is planning software for auto dealers. For example, it helps dealers schedule cars for delivery or add accessories so the vehicles are ready for the customers when they arrive.

Software Advantage Consulting also customizes its software for industries like e-commerce. But its auto dealer clients provide the company with its bread and butter.

“It’s a niche that nobody has been satisifying,” says David Miller, president of Software Advantage Consulting.

Right now a few different dealerships in Michigan and Winnipeg (the dealers there found the company on the Internet) use the software. Miller would like to see it spread across North America, but for now he’s keeping his sites modest, aiming to pick it up 120 to 150 dealerships.

He points out that the business is chasing down some promising leads that could lead to even more promising results. If that happens he can easily see the firm adding to its six existing employees.
