Birmingham residents will know the new AAA building when they see it and they will remember it when they hear about its environmental friendliness.

The two-story structure is being built at corner of Woodward Avenue and Forest Street in Birmingham’s emerging Triangle District. The building feature’s a distinctive 40-foot glass tower in the center of its front façade. It is also expected to be the city’s first building certified as LEED – Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Design.

Construction of the 9,100-square-foot structure is expected to wrap up in October. It will house 25-30 employees and feature a number of green features. Among those features are high-efficiency mechanical systems, low-wattage light fixtures and energy efficient windows. The building’s exterior is also designed with sun shades to keep it cool in the summer and light shelves to bring in more natural light.
