Description:The Data Governance Manager will help formulate and execute on Gale's strategy to become more information-centric in order to enable significantly greater data-driven decision making and is responsible for the implementation and oversight of Gale's internal data management goals, standards, practices, process, and technologies. The data management system includes a data integration system which consolidates and coordinates Gale's assets, any data framework applications needed to implement analysis, internal data sources and external data sources along with other data management tools, such as business intelligence applications and Microsoft SharePoint, may also be part of the system. This position is not responsible for data or data standards for product content.
The Data Governance Manager will leverage relevant business experience in order to understand how information can be shared and otherwise utilized within Gale and key shared services functions, along with the ability to communicate with executives and staff to: understand their information and analysis needs; provide guidance and direction on usage of the data management system; and develop analysis reports, key findings trends, etc. ?The incumbent will leverage his/her technical knowledge of interfaces, data management and databases to help with the development and ongoing administration and management of the data management system.
Requirements:This position requires cross-functional coordination and influence throughout various departments and reporting structures, including shared service functions, such as GPMS, Technology Services, Management Services, etc. This role is empowered by senior leadership to underscore the importance of effective data management and information sharing in order to better enables data-driven decision making in the accomplishment of Gale's strategic and tactical goals. To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a 4 year degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience analyzing data and making recommendations based on your analysis. Must have experience performing analytics on business process metrics; Data warehousing and Cognos experience helpful.
