Chris Ilitch, President and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc., is kicking
off a new initiative - "Let's Meet in the D!" - by pledging that
he'll move the annual worldwide conference of the Little Ceasars
franchises from Las Vegas to Detroit. The hope is that these meetings,
and meetings like it, will assist Detroit in it's continued
revitalization.

Ferndale-based Paxahau emerging as local promoting powerhouse

first independent promoter to produce a stage at the 2005 Detroit
Electronic Music Festival. In 2006 they were given full management
responsibilities of the festival. Now they have become a significant

Borders taps into the e-com pipeline

Borders' e-commerce had been previously ran by

from 2001 until last year when the second largest book chain cut ties. For the last 18 months or so Borders has been researching a new way for
them to do business - electronically. They came up with an online bookstore - a real
bookstore online with shelves to cycle through.

Comcast customer service center in Arabic

The Comcast Corporation in Dearborn have opened up their first
bi-lingual customer service center in both English and Arabic. This
comes just a few months after SMART and the city of Dearborn announced
the use of bi-lingual buses in both of those same languages.

UM researchers develop potential lead into new AIDS drugs

EMU hires college's first woman president

time in its 159-year history, it's a woman. Dr. Susan Martin, who is
EMU's 22nd president, was previously provost and vice chancellor of

Growing Hope growing roots in Ypsi

joking aside, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital produced a report on such a
thing. It's not really so much experimentation as it is medical research. The
other side of this coin is that, through such research, advances in

$4 billion invested in SE Michigan last year

Local businesses collaborate on Mott playhouse

C.S Mott Children's Hospital has some new construction going on. No, not a new wing filled with state-of-the-art medical equipment. It's actually a bit smaller and not so high-tech. But it is for the kids. It's the Mott Storybook Cottage. When it's all said and done, it'll be a 90-square-foot playhouse, built by local companies with local materials.
Metro Detroit's 'Aerotropolis' ready for lift off

"Aerotropolis" is the 25,000 acre zone that lies between Detroit Metro Airport and Willow Run Airport. And, finally, after 12 years, the acreage may be ready for development. The hope is that this "hub" will attract and become home to logistics companies, international headquarters, mixed-use developments and spin-off services.
Over a million gallons of Biodiesel used in Wayne County

Biodiesel was introduced to Wayne County as an alternative form of fuel in June 2006. Since then biodiesel use has topped one million gallons with most of in Wayne County going toward the Department of Public Services fleet.
