California transplant's one-woman design business thrives

Genia Service worked with Hallmark and Mervyns in California prior to relocating to Michigan. She now runs a one-woman design business, Genia Design Service, that specializes in graphic design and interior home styling.

Excerpt:

Q: How did you get into this sort of work?

A: I always did the posters and bulletin boards in elementary school. My mother was a traveling art teacher in Tecumseh and my grandmother was an artist. It's always been a part of my life. How things look, how they work - I like function. I think everyone should find their uniqueness. I like houses to tell a story.
