Dexter-based CareEvolution doubles employee base, adding five new positions
Concentrate, 7/31/2008
Talking to your doctor can be tough at times but getting hospitals to go back and forth is even tougher. Not for Dexter-base CareEvolution, which is making a successful business out of it.
Excerpt:
Hospitals across the nation are busy digitizing medical records so their physicians can readily access the information. The problem is most of these systems are created independently, meaning they don't know how to talk to each other.
That's where
CareEvolution
comes in. The Dexter-based firm creates the software that allows one hospital's data center to speak to another's. So if you go to the University of Michigan Hospital's ER but your primary physician is through St. Joesph Mercy Hospital, CareEvolution lets the ER doctor access whatever files your primary physician has on you.
"I call it a plumbing company," says Vik Kheterpal, principal of CareEvolution. "It's a healthcare information plumbing company."
