metromode, 2/26/2007

In his fifth State of the County address, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano announced that Advanced Resource Recovery (ARR) will convert a former hazardous waste processing plant in Inkster into a state of the art biodiesel facility.

The company will recieve a $1.9 million 21st Century Jobs Fund grant from the state for the project and is expected to employ 40 workers at the plant.

ARR is one of the largest liquid non-hazardous waste treatment facilities in Michigan, serving the state, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. It provides industrial waste processing services specializing in oil.

Ficano also noted that Wayne county has converted its entire diesel fleet to biodiesel, using more than 300,000 gallons of the fuel a year.
