Avant-rock trio: Offonoff features talents of guitarist who founded Dutch improvisers the Ex

Offonoff is an experimental avant-rock/jazz/noise trio that has been described as the intersection of Last Exit, James Blood Ulmer, Sonic Youth and Locust. What does that mean to you? Well, the band's live appearance in Detroit, thanks to the adventurous and ambitious programming tendencies of the Bohemian National Home, should make for some kind crazy-fun sound experience, that's what.

Guitarist Terrie Ex is best known as a founder of Dutch leftist avant-punk group the Ex. Massimo Pupillo is the bassist for Italy's Zu, another group that blurs the lines between rock and unclassifiable music. Paal Nilssen-Love, a Norwegian veteran of partnerships with Peter Brotzmann, Evan Parker and Ken Vandermark, is Offonoff's drummer.
