Growth Companies

The father of Tricia Huneke and Jay Ruby started Ruby + Associates back in 1984 when Reagan was still in office and the Tigers were World Champs. The siblings have since taken their father’s steel structural engineering firm and increased its profit by 50 percent in the last year, not bad.

And, with a profit like that, jobs aren’t far behind.

Right now, the firm employees 35 people in southeast Michigan, while their hope is to hire four to six additional employees yearly – something they’ve done for the past three years. And, so far, they’re going to hit their mark again – in the last year they added five new positions.

This fall Ruby + Associates was honored by Structural Engineer as one of the best firms to work for in the country. Some of their major projects include the World Trade Center, the Phoenix Convention Center, Helicopter Hangar Complex and the New North Terminal and Ground transportation Center at Detroit’s own Metro Airport.

"Great clients, great work, great people," Huneke said. "Our culture and decisions center around these ideals. We have a family environment and are passionate about our work."
